WHO THIS COVERS
Who this notice covers
This notice applies to personal information Narrow Sea holds about: individuals who request a quotation, bind cover or make a claim; brokers and intermediaries who submit business to us; and individuals named in a submission as an owner, operator, master or other contact on an insured vessel or voyage. It does not cover information about companies as such, only the people connected to them.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Information collected
Depending on how you interact with us, we collect: contact details (name, company, role, email, phone number and WhatsApp number where given); account details for the client and broker portal (email, password credentials and login history); vessel and voyage details (vessel name, IMO number, flag, route, load and discharge ports, transit dates); insured values and premium calculations; broker details including licence number and jurisdiction; documents you upload in support of a quotation or a claim; and records of your communications with us, including WhatsApp and email threads about a specific file.
We do not ask for payment card details through the site; invoicing and payment are handled separately once cover is bound.
WHY WE COLLECT IT
How information is used
We use this information to: assess and price war-risk exposure for a specific vessel and voyage; issue indicative estimates and formal quotations; screen the parties to a voyage against sanctions and restricted-party lists before cover is offered; administer a bound policy, including premium invoicing, amendments and renewals; handle claims and coordinate passage support where that service applies; operate the client and broker portal securely; and meet our own legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations as an insurance business.
LEGAL BASIS
Legal bases for processing
The applicable legal basis depends on the organisation responsible for processing, your circumstances and the purpose of the processing. The business has not yet published a confirmed mapping of purposes to legal bases. Contact the privacy enquiry address below for clarification; submitting a form is not a blanket consent to unrelated uses.
SANCTIONS SCREENING
Sanctions and restricted-party checks
Information in a submission may be used for sanctions and restricted-party checks, including checks against the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals list. An automated result does not determine eligibility by itself. See sanctions screening and restricted business for how this relates to an enquiry.
WHO IT IS SHARED WITH
Recipients of personal information
We share personal information with: the insurer of record and any co-insurers, reinsurers or capital providers who underwrite the risk; your broker, where one is involved in your submission; service providers who run parts of our technology on our behalf, under contract and only for that purpose (including our software and infrastructure provider, messaging providers for WhatsApp and email, and document and payment processing where applicable); sanctions-screening data providers; and regulators, law enforcement or courts where we are legally required to respond. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
The business has not yet published a confirmed list of processing locations, recipients and international-transfer arrangements. Ask for the arrangements applicable to your submission before providing sensitive information.
RETENTION
Retention of information
A confirmed retention schedule for enquiries, account information, documents, policy and claims records has not yet been published. Contact the privacy enquiry address below to ask what will be retained and for how long, or to request deletion where applicable. This page does not promise automatic deletion after a particular period.
YOUR RIGHTS
Access, correction and other requests
You can contact the address below to ask about your personal information, request access or correction, or raise a deletion, restriction or objection request. The rights and exceptions that apply depend on the relevant law and your circumstances. Ask for the responsible organisation and applicable complaint route if you are concerned about the handling of your information.
Do not include information about children or other sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the particular request and the appropriate handling arrangements have been confirmed.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
Privacy and security concerns
If you believe information has been sent to the wrong recipient or accessed inappropriately, contact support@narrowsea.com and identify the affected request where possible. Do not send passwords or additional sensitive documents in the initial report. Applicable notification duties depend on the circumstances and relevant law.
CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE
Updates to this notice
We may update this notice as the business and the applicable law develop. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site does not by itself constitute consent to a new use of personal information.
